Chamber Concert season concludes with ‘Poems and Stories’

Screen Shot 2017-05-02 at 11.45.10 AMLA GRANDE — The Grande Ronde Symphony Association will conclude its Chamber Concert season with a show called “Stories and Poems.”

Eastern Oregon University’s 2016 graduate Shahayla Ononaiye will perform operatic works and art songs, as well as contemporary-classical crossover works. She will be accompanied by Mio Aoike, who holds a doctorate in piano performance from the University of Oregon and teaches at EOU.

Ononaiye received a bachelor of science degree in music and a degree in business administration in marketing.

Ononaiye is currently teaching about 15 vocal students for Studio Della Bella Voce under the guidance of Jamie Jacobson, and enjoying every moment of teaching, according to a press release.

She is also continuing her own vocal study with Jacobson and gaining more experience in acting through local theater.

The Grande Ronde Symphony Association’s Chamber Concert, which will be May 6, is
designed to include varied vocal music.

Doors open at 6:45 p.m., and the performance begins  at 7:30 p.m. Following the concert, attendees can enjoy refreshments, wine and punch provided by the Grande Ronde Symphony Association.

Season chamber concert pass holders get in by flashing their passes. General
admission is $25 at the door.

The show will be held at 60751 Wood Road, La Grande, off of Morgan Lake Road.
