Sidewalk fun at Crazy Days
UPDATED July 13, 2017: The location of the firemen breakfast was misstated in the original story.
LA GRANDE — Thanks to the Lovin’ Spoonful song, summertime sidewalks often call to mind temperatures “hotter than a match head,” but on July 14 and 15, downtown La Grande’s sidewalks mean only festival fun.
Crazy Days is back with its hallmark sidewalk vendors, fireman’s breakfast and family-friendly activities organized by La Grande Main Street Downtown.
The public is welcome to visit the vendors, but are also encouraged to remember the downtown businesses.
“If you are hungry during the day, check out the local restaurant specials or the Main Street concession stand,” a press release for the event reads.
Vendors continue July 15, along with a hearty breakfast prepared by local firemen and served in the firehouse, 1806 Cove Ave. Breakfast will be from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and costs $6 for adults and $5 for children.
There will be a People’s Choice Barbecue contest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Benchwarmers Pub and Grill. The public is invited to taste each team’s tri-tip entries. The cost to judge is $10, which includes a beer from Side A Brewery or a soft drink.
The annual Grande Ronde-A-View car show, which is held in conjunction with Crazy Days, will begin at 9 a.m. and run through 3 p.m. July 15 on Adams Avenue. There will also be a parade of classic cars from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and a presentation of the Union County Timber Cruisers Car Club awarding special trophies to the cruising cars.
Participants can also swing by the Farmers’ Market on July 15 to browse the locally produced foods and enjoy live music. The market is at Max Square on the corner of Fourth Street and Adams Avenue. The Farmers’ Market runs from 9 a.m. to noon.
