Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts reaches its 35th year
Joseph Gallery Walk
The gallery walk will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 14.
Joseph’s many galleries invite the public to stroll the length of the town’s Main Street.
See what the galleries have on display and enter your name into a drawing to win five raffle tickets. The raffle prize is a landscape oil painting by the late local artist Bob Fergison, valued at $1,200.
The gallery walk showcases all the galleries on Main Street.
En Plein Air Competitio
The En Plein Air Artists will be at the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture to put finishing touches on their work and matting, framing and hanging their pieces from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 14.
The public is invited to follow the artists during the day and watch the final leg of the competition.
View the completed works from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture. Awards for the artists’ work will be given for First Place, Second Place, Honorable Mention and Artists’ Choice.
Artwork will be on display from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 15.
Opening Night Artists’ Reception
The featured fine arts show kicks off with an elegant reception and a chance to mingle with the artists. Select a free, hand-painted wineglass created by local artists specifically for this event. Savor hors d’oeuvres and sip wine while you enjoy the diversity of fine art.
The evening will include a special showcase of local youth artists and your first opportunity to bid on silent auction pieces.
The reception will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Joseph Community Center.
The cost is $25 at the door. Advance tickets cost $20 and are available online at wallowavalleyarts.org.
Ruby Peak Film Festival Showing
The winners of past festivals will be shown. Showings are 3 p.m. Sept. 15 and 1 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture. There is no cost to attend.
Main Event: Public Showing
Enjoy art exhibits, live music and artist demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 16. Take your time to view those favorite works of art on display at your leisure. The free event takes place at the Joseph Community Center.
One last chance to view or purchase the works will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 17. Silent auction bids close at 1:30 p.m.
Bonnie Griffith will lead a pastel workshop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Joseph Community Center. The cost is $50. The workshop is limited to 12 participants, so register in advance at email@example.com.
Quick Draw (pictured above)
During this fast-paced event on Sept. 16 at the Joseph Community Center, artists create a work of art in 90 minutes as patrons bid on the pieces. Enjoy live music, art, hors d’oeuvres and no-host wine.
The raffle drawing will happen at 9 p.m. The cost is $5. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and painting starts at 7 p.m.
This is a great opportunity to purchase that special one-of-a-kind piece of art you witnessed come to completion.
