Windy Keys Trio to perform at next Chamber Concert
LA GRANDE — The 2017-2018 Chamber Concert series, sponsored by the Grande Ronde Symphony Association, will present its next concert at 7 p.m. Jan. 20.
Windy Keys Trio will perform at the second concert of the season, which will be held at 1405 Cris Court in La Grande.
It will be an evening of selections from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries inspired by dances from Hungary, Mexico, Cuba and Brazil, as well as wildflowers in America’s heartland.
The trio will close with “Summertime” from Gershwin’s opera “Porgy and Bess.” This
arrangement was created just for Windy Keys Trio by Matthew Naughton, a San Francisco
Windy Keys Trio was formed in 2010 by retired educators Cherlyne Allen playing flute, Elburn Cooper playing clarinet and Liz Cooper on piano. The trio considers playing chamber music the highpoint of their musical lives as they spend two hours each week in rehearsal.
They feel the hours spent rehearsing enriches their lives, pushes them to grow musically and allows them to explore new literature for their combination of instruments, as well as provides enjoyment for them.
GRSA President Patty Sandoz said she’s eager for the public to experience Windy Keys Trio.
“We are excited to present this group in an intimate-type performance as they share their musical talents for the enjoyment of all those in attendance,” Sandoz said.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the performance will begin at 7 p.m. (note the new time for all GRSA concerts).
Chamber season ticket passes may be purchased in advance at P.O. Box 824, La Grande, or on the GRSA website at granderondesymphony.org. The cost is for $75 per person.
Single tickets may be purchased at the door for $25 each. Refreshments will be offered following the concert, a perfect way to cap a wonderful evening of music. For more information, visit www.granderondesymphony.org or contact Sandoz at 541-963- 7595 or email email@example.com.
